The iCloud Photos mirror for Immich

Your photos. Your server.

Photo Mirror Sync keeps your self-hosted Immich server identical to your iCloud Photos library. New photos, edits, favorites, deletions and albums, straight from your iPhone.

Coming soon to theApp Store How it works

Leaves photos uploaded to Immich any other way untouched · iOS 17 or later · Immich 3.3 or later

Mirror, not backup

Whatever happens in iCloud happens in Immich.

A backup only ever grows. Photo Mirror Sync treats iCloud Photos as the source of truth and keeps your Immich library in step with it, so the two always show the same photos.

  1. You take a photo Uploaded to Immich as the untouched original
  2. You edit it The new version replaces the old one in Immich
  3. You mark a favorite It becomes a favorite in Immich too
  4. You delete it It moves to the Immich trash, never deleted for good
  5. You sort it into an album The same album appears in Immich

Use case

One library for every photo you take.

Many people use Immich as the place where all their photos come together: the iPhone library, edited exports from Lightroom, footage from cameras and drones. Photo Mirror Sync keeps the iPhone part identical to iCloud and never touches the rest.

  • iPhone and iCloud Photos

Mirrored by Photo Mirror Sync: new photos, edits, favorites, deletions and albums stay in step on their own.

  • Lightroom

Your edited exports, uploaded or added as an external library. Photo Mirror Sync leaves them alone.

  • Cameras and videos

Footage from a camera, drone or action cam, uploaded however you like. Left alone, too.

Immich: everything in one place

One timeline, one search and one place to share, across every source. The iPhone part stays current without you thinking about it.

Features

Made for people who run their own Immich server.

  1. Runs in the background

Start a sync and put your iPhone away.

On iOS 26 a sync keeps running after you leave the app, with progress on the Lock Screen. A nightly sync can run while your iPhone charges, and a notification tells you what changed in Immich.

  2. Dry run first

See what would happen before anything does.

Dry run is on by default. It counts new photos, estimates the upload size and checks a sample against your Immich server, so you know how many photos are already there.

  3. No duplicates

Already in Immich? Linked, not uploaded twice.

Before uploading, every photo’s checksum is checked against your Immich server. Byte-identical copies, say from the official Immich app, are adopted instead of uploaded again. Interrupted runs continue exactly where they stopped.

  4. Safe by design

Deletions go to the trash. Large ones wait for you.

Nothing is ever deleted permanently. If more than 5 % of your library would move to the Immich trash at once, the app asks first, and background syncs never confirm on their own.
